Block

  • Sep. 19th, 2008 at 2:08 PM

Writer's block is a nasty virus. It starts out simply as a frustration, with a simple cure, which is finding the proper muse to break down the block. But when laziness sets in we tend to let the block stay. We get caught up in other aspects of life, which is all well and good however if we let this virus sit for too long, it begins to subtly consume your creativity. It's hard to catch once this process begins. Heck, one can rarely even notice! Until it's too late and you sit down to write and you're brain freezes, frustration works into overdrive. Your braincells are scrambling around looking for you're writing talent and are met with a strong block, that they merely can pound against. Once realized you are set with two options, Sit there and let the cells pound on the block, ignore the resulting headache and frustration, and write, anything that comes to you're mind. Doing this makes the cell more powerful, each word written down, call more cells, builds up weak ones, making the cells stronger so they can steadily break down the wall. What you write does not have to make since, it merely has to be there, from your thoughts. You can do that, or once again you can let laziness take over and the virus will begin to consume you. Self doubt in your talent sets in. You find yourself moody, and frustrated, with no release for you're pent of creative. Once to this point, when the virus becomes crippling, the cure becomes more difficult, and calls for more attention and longer treatment. You must embark on a long hard road. That is paved with headaches, frustration and doubt, many sessions of reconstructing your creativity until you're powerful enough to overcome the strong block. It's endure this or loose the ability forever.
